Job grading. Which work, which group, which wage?

The Retail Non-Food cao grades jobs in nine groups, from A to I. Choose your type of shop and the kind of work, read which description fits, and you see the function group and the hourly wage.

Frequently asked questions

On the work the employee actually does. Someone who advises customers and does all the shop work fits group C. If the sales assistant also coaches colleagues and checks till differences, group D. The cao uses the FUWAM system with level descriptions per job family.

It is a good first step. For a formal grading use the Handbook Job Grading Retail Non-Food or functiewijzer.nl. In a dispute only the Handbook counts. For home furnishings shops functiewijzer.nl does not work, use the level descriptions for home furnishings there.

Then the employee first objects to you in writing. You discuss it for at most 30 days and then decide within 14 days. After that the employee can appeal to the cao's Social Committee within 6 weeks (annex 1d).

From the new job the employee gets the wage of the new group. In a higher group at least the same wage as now (article 6.2). A lower wage is only possible with the employee's consent.
