Preparing annual accounts

An annual account that is accurate, ready on time, and tells you how your year has actually gone.

The financial balance of your business

Your annual account is more than an obligation. It is the document with which you reflect on your year, with which your bank assesses your creditworthiness, and with which you substantiate how your business is doing. Yet for many entrepreneurs, it remains a document that comes late and whose content is hardly discussed.

We prepare your annual account according to legal requirements and Dutch reporting standards, and ensure that it is ready on time for filing with the Chamber of Commerce. Afterwards, we go through it with you in understandable language, so that you not only have a document but also know what it says.

Our approach

We start with your administration. We check the figures, close your financial year, and work out the balance sheet, the profit and loss account, and the notes. Where items require attention — inventories, provisions, depreciation, or a current account with your holding — we investigate and explain our choices to you.

Next, we schedule a meeting in which we go through the figures together: what has changed compared to last year, where your margin lies, and what that means for the coming year. You will work with one fixed point of contact who knows your business and your history.

Frequently asked questions

Here are some frequently asked questions and answers about annual accounts.

An annual account summarises the financial performance and position of your business over a financial year. It consists of a balance sheet with your assets, liabilities, and equity, a profit and loss account with your revenues and expenses, and a commentary explaining important items and events. For private limited companies, an annual account is mandatory. Banks, investors, and other stakeholders use it to assess the financial health of your business.

No. We prepare your annual accounts, but we are not an accounting firm and therefore do not issue compilation, review, or audit statements. For most businesses, this is not necessary. If your bank or another party requests such a statement, we will put you in touch with an accountant who can provide it. Your annual accounts will already be prepared, which makes that process shorter and cheaper.

Yes. We handle the entire process: closing your financial year, preparing the annual accounts, and filing with the Chamber of Commerce. You provide what we need and ultimately approve the documents; we take care of the work in between.

For a private limited company, the annual accounts must be filed with the Chamber of Commerce within twelve months after the end of the financial year. In practice, we work with an earlier schedule, so you have your figures in time for your tax return, your bank, and your own decision-making.

The administration for the past financial year, along with the documents that support the items: bank statements, outstanding invoices, loan agreements, and inventory data. If you keep your accounts with us, we already have most of it. At the start of the process, you will receive an overview of what is still needed.

Late filing can lead to a fine and, in the worst case, to personal liability in the event of bankruptcy. We monitor the deadline for you and will warn you well in advance when we still need documents from you.
